Oakville is a town of approximately 230,000 people in Halton Region, located on the north shore of Lake Ontario between Mississauga and Burlington. A prosperous GTA community with a mix of established residential neighbourhoods and modern commercial development, Oakville is part of the broader Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). The DriveTest Centre on Wyecroft Road is located in southwest Oakville near the Bronte Creek area, in an active commercial and light industrial zone.
Important: Oakville only offers G2 and G passenger car tests. Motorcycle (M2/M/LM2/LM) and commercial licence tests are not available at this location. Candidates requiring motorcycle or commercial testing must visit another centre.
The DriveTest Centre is located on Wyecroft Road in Oakville’s southwest industrial and commercial district. Routes from this location cover Wyecroft Road, surrounding commercial arterials, and Oakville’s residential areas. With extended hours from 7 AM to 7 PM on weekdays and Saturday availability, scheduling is convenient. With a compact route of approximately 13 minutes covering 7.52 kilometres, Oakville has one of the shorter routes in Ontario — but the GTA-adjacent road complexity means those 7.52 kilometres are demanding.
Oakville’s pass rates are notably below the provincial average:
Unusually, Oakville’s G2 pass rate (57%) slightly exceeds its G pass rate (55%). This is an uncommon pattern and may reflect the specific highway component requirements for the G test in Oakville’s QEW-adjacent location.
Oakville’s pass rates are comparable to the most challenging GTA-area centres.
Wyecroft Road runs through a mix of commercial, industrial, and residential zones in southwest Oakville. The road features multiple lanes, intersections with major arterials, and commercial traffic characteristic of GTA suburban areas.
Oakville’s major north-south arterials like Bronte Road and Burloak Drive are likely components of test routes, featuring traffic signals, left-turn lanes, and suburban GTA traffic volumes.
Oakville’s residential neighbourhoods range from older established areas near the lake to newer suburban developments inland. Both types feature standard suburban driving requirements with specific speed limits and intersection types.
For G tests, the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) — which passes directly through Oakville — is the likely highway component. The QEW is one of Ontario’s busiest highway corridors, particularly during morning and afternoon commuter periods.
Motorcycle candidates: choose another centre. Oakville does not offer M, M2, LM, or LM2 tests. If you need a motorcycle test, book at Burlington, Mississauga, or Hamilton.
QEW readiness for G tests. The QEW through Oakville carries substantial traffic and features several interchanges. Practice on this specific section of highway — it is more demanding than rural two-lane highways.
Wyecroft Road and surrounding arterials. Practice on the multi-lane roads near the test centre, focusing on smooth lane changes, proper signal use, and intersection technique.
G2 advantage over G. With the G2 pass rate (57%) slightly higher than G (55%), first-time G2 candidates have marginally better odds than upgrading to full G. Ensure your G2 preparation focuses on urban routes over highway skills.
The G2 test at Oakville with a 57% pass rate is a meaningful challenge. The suburban GTA complexity requires thorough preparation on residential and commercial roads. The slightly higher G2 rate versus G may reflect that the urban-only G2 test is slightly more forgiving than the highway-inclusive G test.
The G test at 55% pass rate is notably difficult, partially due to the QEW highway component. Candidates must be confident on this major Ontario highway before attempting the full licence here.
Oakville is a challenging test centre for both G and G2 tests. The 55% G and 57% G2 pass rates are among the lower rates in Ontario. The centre’s G2/G-only test offering limits its use to passenger car candidates only. If you are an Oakville resident with extensive driving experience on local roads and the QEW, testing here makes sense after thorough preparation. First-time G2 candidates without significant GTA driving experience may find better odds at smaller centres. Regardless of experience level, focused practice on Wyecroft Road, Oakville’s arterials, and the QEW is essential before your test.
